Hey, dearest Readers!

This year is going to be a wild ride!

Have you ever bitten off so much, you thought you'd choke?

Can you hear me gagging? haha.

Works in Progress:

Prey to the Princess is coming along nicely and I think you'll fall in love with it immediately -- So, with that in mind, I'm going to be rolling something FRESH out soon so y'all can take a sneaky-peek and get a feel for if you'd like to Beta this project with me!

Unchained, the third book in the Blurred Lines Poetry Series, is well on its way to publication. Just a few tweaks left- planning to roll this one out in the spring.

As you've seen (if you follow me on Social Media) I have redone the covers for the Blurred Lines Poetry Series. Those will be added to the website today. They are live on Amazon- so, if you've previously purchased either Lifelines or Unraveled, you will have a very rare copy. The old cover will no longer be printed!

I did this with my fanbase in mind, yes...

But I ultimately revamped them for our industry and for integrity's sake.

I was a baby author in December of 2024 when I first published Lifelines. At that time, I had created all four covers for the series and I didn't have most social media. I didn't have TikTok, I didn't have an author Facebook, I didn't have anything to do with the writer or author community. I wasn't even in the reader community. (I still don't have IG installed, so if you see stories on there, they're coming from Facebook.)

I didn't have GoodReads. I just read and wrote at my leisure.

That being said, I had a lot of learning to do. I am humble enough to admit my grave mistake: using the help of Playground to create my original covers.

I didn't know the impact that AI was having on our industry, and once I learned about the detrimental effect it was having, I knew I had to take the time to create something different. I discovered Canva when I was finishing my debut novel and used Canva for both the novel and the cookbook, so I turned there to make BRAND NEW covers for the Blurred Lines Series.

I apologize profusely for my horrendous mistake. I have never- and will never- use AI in my actual writing. I am not an artist- and, to be honest, we are barely making it financially over here. I can't pay an artist (yet... I hope to one day!) Thank you for your continued support, and please enjoy the new covers. I think they scream "poetry" more than the old ones, and I'm quite proud of them.

In other news,

I have taken (five!) free virtual classes on writing, publishing, marketing, and motivation in January and I hope to produce more enjoyable and relatable content for all of you- both here and on socials. I have created a Google Form to subscribe to my email list for future exclusive content, beta reading, and blog post reminders, which you can find via the button below.

With a better connection in mind and all of my love-

Let's make this year our bitch.

Melissa Ann Rye
